The following explains how the Improv Comedy course progresses at The Improv Conspiracy.
The overwhelming majority of students begin their improv journey here! These levels provide the foundations of our philosophies and outcomes. Each level in the starter track is evaluated, students receive a PASS 🟢 or REPEAT 🛑 grade at the end of term.

You’ve passed Starter 2 and get to hone your skills in a fun environment, tailored to you, where formal Pass/Repeat evaluations don’t exist. All the benefits of play, performance skills development and community with no lofty expectations.
<aside> 🏙️ REP CITY 8 week terms where the focus is on play and essential skill development. Rotating each term through four pillars of performance at TIC. Each of the below classes will focus on an overarching goal while also being well-rounded enough to be suitable for all performers who want to improve in multiple areas.
REP CITY: STAGECRAFT REP CITY: BOLD MOVES REP CITY: LISTENING & SUPPORT REP CITY: PRESENCE
Exercises, content and instructor will vary term to term and will be based on the above plus the needs and strengths of the group.

This level is designed to be repeated multiple times. With different teachers teaching specifically to the needs of the students.

While not formally evaluated, at the end of each term, teachers will have the opportunity to invite students to Performance Track. Students do not need to, and shouldn’t request this process, it will happen automatically.

You’ve passed Starter 2 and received explicit invitation to pursue a path to the stage.
<aside> 🎭 1️⃣ Performance 1: The Game of the Scene Pre-requisite: Starter 2 Pass + Invite Learn how to focus your scene work and explore its maximum comedic potential. Learn side support like walk-ons and soundscapes to help heighten the game of the scene. You’ll play with character games and patterns to support the overall game of the scene.

<aside> 🎭 2️⃣ Performance 2: World Building Pre-requisite: Performance 1 Pass Here we learn how to build worlds and follow character arcs in funny and satisfying ways. We develop the skills required to create full length improvised shows that are connected thematically and explore characters fully.

<aside> 🎭 3️⃣ Performance 3: The Harold Pre-requisite: Performance 2 Pass Learn the world famous classic long form 3-act structure that started it all for the Improv Conspiracy.

NOTE: If you receive a repeat recommendation from Performance 3, we strongly suggest you take one term of REP CITY before trying again
Upon Passing Performance 3 students are eligible for our advanced offerings.
